Machine Service History: A durable metal or acrylic QR code is affixed to every piece of heavy machinery on the factory floor. When a maintenance technician approaches a broken machine, they scan the code. This instantly pulls up the machine's entire service history, calibration logs, lockout/tagout procedures, and links to order replacement parts.

Preventative Maintenance Alerts: Technicians can scan the code after completing a routine check, automatically resetting the maintenance timer in the central system and ensuring compliance with safety schedules.

Implementing QR codes in a harsh industrial environment requires specific considerations:

Durability is Crucial: Paper stickers will not survive a factory floor. QR codes must be printed on durable materials—laser-etched onto metal plates, printed on chemical-resistant vinyl, or covered in heavy laminate to withstand grease, heat, and abrasion.

Error Correction: QR codes have built-in error correction. For industrial use, generate codes with the highest level of error correction (Level H). This ensures the code remains scannable even if it gets partially scratched or covered in dirt.
